(More customer reviews)I bought this to work with a bike without a top tube that I currently have to mount "upside-down" and use the angled downtube to mount.However this put the bike up very high and blocks rear view.However, this adapater does not work well with very large (ie: long) frames.The problem is in the basic design that this adapter will almost "pull apart" and not stay very solid at full extension.It almost feels like it will snap apart when fully extended and loaded with the bike on the hitch.I can't use it with my bike, but it does work with my kids bikes which are much smaller.For my bike I have tried a friends Saris adapter that works much better for a large bike and I am looking into buying this instead.

Yakima King Joe 3 Bike Rack Review

(More customer reviews)This fits my Scion xB perfectly, it is a very challenging vehicle design (think box), and I didn't want to go with a roof rack. Putting a dirty mountain bike on the roof of my (nice paint job) car just hurts.

The only con for this rack is that there is really no way to lock it to your car. If someone unhooks the straps they can take your rack and bike (with the bike locked to the rack).

(More customer reviews)Another reviewer found a theoretical flaw in the design and did not use the rack.I understand the critique, but I have used my King Joesuccessfully for several years with very expensive road bikes.The benefit, as I see it, of using one strap for two tension points is that it is easy to apply and balance the tension points.Unless a strap or buckle actually breaks (unlikely unless damaged), the rack and bikes are secure so long as the straps were placed properly (as easy task) and then tightened.

The rack is well-designed, sturdy and takes only a minute to place and remove.

The telescopic tubes should have stopper so that they would not disassemble during installation on the bike. The conversion bar is extremely awkward to install with the bolting type mechanism.

Yakima Hitch Ski Mount Review

(More customer reviews)The Yakima Hitchski worked well with my DoubleDown4 bike rack mounted to my Jeep Patriot. Some reviews say the Hitchski causes handling of the vehicle to decrease, but I did not notice a difference in this smaller, 4 cylinder SUV. The skis remained secure even though the bike rack had some bounce to it. Yakima has improved the width of the ski clamps, so loading twin tips is not much of an issue. However, some styles of bindings may limit your ability to clamp down skis as shown in the picture. You may have to clamp in the skis side by side. This limits the capacity, but is not an issue for me because I don't plan on hauling 6 pairs at one time. This rack will never outsell roof mounted systems, but the ease of taking on and off the hitchski is a definite plus. I would recommend this rack to anyone who is looking for a more portable, easier to access ski rack.
