(More customer reviews)I had read great things about this carrier, and as I couldn't afford much, the price was right for me. But you get what you pay for. I took this on a long road-trip from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to Gainesville, Florida (15 hours). I didn't load it with anything too heavy, or too light, and I put a protective plywood board in the front so that nothing would get too bent out of shape from wind-force. I got out every hour or two to check that the straps were still tight and the rubber grips still holding, because I was concerned about my belongings, and for the vast majority of the trip, everything seemed fine. A couple of hours from the end, however, I looked in my rearview mirror and saw things flying all over the road behind me. At first I was in disbelief, but then I pulled over and found that everything had come completely undone. The rubber grips just didn't hold well enough. My main concern was that someone could have gotten very badly hurt, if not fatally, in a massive car accident with things flying around the road (including the big, black canvas of the carrier) and visibility impaired. But beyond that, I lost everything that I had been carrying. Everything was subsequently run over and completely destroyed. I am still too devastated to think about the actual loss (financial and otherwise). So, maybe for a trip down the road within town this is fine, but it just doesn't hold up for highway travel.
